Coach Mike Ryan: Co-Founder/Team 2016(U19) Head Coach
Mike Ryan has been involved with lacrosse for over 35 years at all playing levels. He played defense at SUNY at Cortland and was a member of their National Championship program. In 1980, Mike started his coaching and teaching career at Shaker High School in Albany, New York, where he instituted the lacrosse program and had a record of 136-14. His team participated in five New York State championship tournaments and produced 15 All-State players and 5 High School All-Americans. He was also a three time New York State Coach of the Year recipient. Mike also coached at Rochester Institute of Technology, as the associate head coach in charge of defense and recruiting. RIT was consistently ranked in the top three in the country and participated in the Division 3 National Championship Final Four. The program produced eight Division 3 All-Americans and had a record of 40-4.
In 1997 he helped institute, promote the Alpharetta Rec Program, the Super South Lacrosse Camp, Georgia Coaches Clinic and various youth programs, and founded the Georgia Outlaws Summer program in 2007, a non-profit summer programs for kids to have a place to play in the summer. In 2001, helped start the program at Milton High School. His teams at Milton won Region Titles in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and participated in four Final Four appearances in the State tournament, and the program produced 22 All-State players and 5 High School All-Americans.
Mike’s team’s at Northview High School have had a record of 85-19 and earned Region Championships in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014. Northview’s program has produced 20 All-State players, as well as 8 high school All-Americans and two Academic All-Americans. In 2014, Northview won the GHSA 5A 2014 State Championship, first ever in program history and was a participant in the 2013 State Championship game, back to back appearances. Last May, Mike was named 2013 Assistant coach of the Year by the Georgia High School Boys Lacrosse Coaches Council, he is a two time recipient. In 2015, The US Lacrosse Foundation recognized Mike as the Outstanding Contributor for Lacrosse 2014-2015 award winner. He is currently coaching at Johns Creek High School in Johns Creek, GA.
Coach Trainer is a Senior attackman for University of Georgia men’s lacrosse team. He finished his career as assist leader and 2nd in all-time points at UGA, first amongst attackmen. Other accolades include, 2015 -2nd Team All Conference Attack, 2014 -MCLA Scholar Athlete, 2014 -SELC 1st Team All-Conference Attack, 2015 -Team Captain (UGA), 2014 -Team Captain (UGA), 2013 -SELC Offensive MVP and All-Tournament team. Prior to college, Coach Trainer lettered in lacrosse at Northview High School where he was named an Academic All-American in 2011 while also receiving All-State team honors. Coach Trainer has also been coaching in the Atlanta Rage club program for 5 years.
Coach Zakucia is currently a freshman defenseman for Div-1 UMASS-Lowell. In high school he lettered in lacrosse at Chattahoochee High School in Johns Creek, Georgia. In 2013 helped lead his team to the Georgia 6A state quarterfinals. He made the Georgia 6A All-State team and DI varsity All-Star team in 2013. He led team in ground balls with 89 and caused turnovers with 63 in 2013. He helped lead his team to Georgia 4A state quarter finals in 2012. He is majoring in physical therapy at UMASS-Lowell.
Coach Johnson is currently a sophomore attackman for the Berry College Vikings. His freshman year, he was an attackman for Emmanuel College men’s lacrosse team. In high school he lettered in lacrosse at Chattahoochee High School in Johns Creek, Georgia where he scored 33 goals and added 23 assists his senior year. He helped CHS advance to the quarter finals in his junior and senior years. He served as team captain 2011-2013, while receiving team MVP in 2011. He is majoring in exercise science at Berry.
Coach Kastner is currently a sophomore at Emmanuel College where he serves as a student assistant coach for the men’s lacrosse team. In his freshman year, he played as a defenseman for Emmanuel College men’s lacrosse team. In high school he lettered in lacrosse at Chattahoochee High School in Johns Creek, Georgia.
Coach BJ Hebert: Co-Founder/Assistant Coach (2016)
BJ Hebert is a native of upstate New York and graduated from Greenwich High School. He went on to complete his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL and graduate degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. He relocated to Atlanta in 1995 and has been involved with community youth athletic programs for the past 12 years, as a both a coach and administrator in numerous sports. Coach Hebert has served on the Board of Directors for Newtown Recreation and is currently board President for the Chattahoochee High School Athletic Booster Association. Coach Hebert has been involved with youth lacrosse for many years, serving as both an assistant and head coach within the Chattahoochee feeder and high school programs. In 2010, he helped co-found the Georgia Outlaws Travel Lacrosse program. During his tenure he’s helped coach his lacrosse teams to multiple tournament championships and playoff appearances. Coach Hebert currently resides in Johns Creek, GA.
Coach Carter Johnson: Co-Founder/Assistant Coach (2016)
Carter Johnson is a native of Rochester, NY, where he attended Irondequoit High School. While he played football, hockey and baseball, he grew up around lacrosse playing in several indoor leagues through high school and college. Coach Johnson has coached several sports within the Johns Creek community since moving here in 2000, including JV coach at Northview High School. Coach Johnson is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve where he served as an aviator in various attack aviation units, including two command tours in Bosnia and various leadership positions during Afghanistan and Iraq. He has an economics degree from SUNY Brockport and an MBA from Syracuse University. In 2010, he helped co-found the Georgia Outlaws Travel Lacrosse program.
Coach Michael Dowling: U13 Elite Head Coach
Michael Dowling was born and raised in Long Island, NY where he played baseball and football. He relocated with his family to Orlando, FL and graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Accounting. Coach Dowling moved to Atlanta in 1992 and has been coaching youth sports for 10+ years, including baseball, football and lacrosse. He currently serves on the board for the Chattahoochee High School Athletic Booster Association as Vice President. Coach Dowling has been involved with youth lacrosse for several years, serving as both an assistant and head coach within the Chattahoochee feeder and Georgia Outlaws Travel Lacrosse programs.

Tom Portaro grew up in Nassau County on Long Island and attended Plainview-Old Bethpage High School where he was an All Division midfielder. He played lacrosse at Georgia Tech where he received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has coached youth lacrosse for over 7 years and is currently the head coach of the Northview Jr Titans Senior Select Team.
Coach ron Desilva: assistant Coach (2018)
Ron DeSilva was born and raised in upstate New York where he was a multi-sport athlete (baseball, football, soccer). Coach DeSilva graduated from Wilmington University in 1994 and he spent 4 years in the United States Air Force, serving as an Air Traffic Controller, during Desert Shield/ Storm. Coach DeSilva moved to Atlanta in 1998 and has been coaching organized sports for over 10 years. Over the past 6 years, he has focused on lacrosse, serving on the board of directors for the Northview High School feeder teams, as well as holding various coaching roles for the Northview Jr. Select Teams, as well as The Georgia Outlaws Lacrosse Club.
Coach Brandon Allen: Newtown director/assistant Coach
Brandon Allen is the Director of Newtown Recreation. He was born and raised in South Florida and graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Sports Administration. Brandon has been with Newtown Recreation for eleven years (since graduating from FSU). In addition to working at Newtown, Brandon is also currently the Head Coach for the Varsity Women’s Girl’s Lacrosse at Northview High School. Brandon lives with his wife in Alpharetta.
